📅 Follow-up
📤 Send my reports
Photograph or scan your report (blood test, echo, X-ray) and send it here — the team sees it in your file before your visit.
🚶 Physiotherapy & activity
Breathing
- Use your spirometer 10 breaths every 1–2 hours while awake, for the first 2 weeks.
- When coughing or sneezing, hug a pillow firmly against your chest.
Weeks 1–2
- Walk inside the house several times a day; short, comfortable walks.
- Sit out of bed for meals. Climb stairs slowly, one at a time, with rest.
Weeks 3–6
- Walk outside daily, building up to 30 minutes at a comfortable pace.
- Light housework is fine. No lifting more than 2–3 kg.
After 6–8 weeks
- The breastbone is healed for most patients — gradually return to normal activity, cycling and driving after your review confirms it.
- Avoid pushing/pulling heavy weights (buckets, buffalo tethers, tractors) until cleared.
🍎 Diet
- Less oil and ghee — use 3–4 teaspoons of oil per person per day; avoid desi ghee, butter, vanaspati and fried food.
- Plenty of vegetables, fruit, dal and whole-wheat roti. Prefer grilled or boiled over fried.
- Limit salt — about one teaspoon a day in total; avoid pickle, papad and packet snacks.
- If you have diabetes, keep sugar, gur and sweets strictly controlled — your sugar levels protect your grafts.
- Milk: use toned/double-toned. Paneer occasionally, not fried.
- No smoking or tobacco in any form — ever again. Alcohol only if your team permits.
- Drink normal amounts of water unless your team has given you a fluid limit.
🩹 Wound care
- Keep the chest and leg wounds clean and dry. A daily sponge or shower is fine after your team allows — pat dry, never rub.
- Do not apply any cream, powder, haldi or home remedy on the wound.
- Some itching, mild soreness and a small lump at the top of the scar are normal while healing.
- If a leg vein was used: keep the leg raised when sitting, and wear the stocking/crepe bandage as advised. Mild ankle swelling is common.
Call us the same day if you notice
